April: A Month of Lifestyle Shifts

There’s something about a fresh month that feels like a clean slate. And this April, I’ve decided it’s time to lean into that feeling with a purposeful shift—not a major overhaul, but an intentional series of changes that support the life and wellness I want to create.

I’m calling April my Lifestyle Shift Month. It’s not about being perfect or making big promises. It’s about showing up for myself in small but meaningful ways—and building consistency over time.

Here are a few of the things I’ll be focusing on this month:

1. Limiting Sugar and Supporting Heart Health

I’ve set a goal to greatly reduce sugar intake and focus on foods that can help me naturally lower cholesterol. That means reaching for whole foods, healthy fats, more fiber, and anti-inflammatory choices. I’ll be exploring meals and snacks that support heart health and sharing them as I go!

2. Intentional Weekly Movement

While I’m a runner at heart, I want to balance my routine by incorporating more strength, stretching, mobility work, and even trying a few new things outside of my usual training. It’s about feeling strong and supported in all areas—not just the miles I log.

3. Better Sleep Hygiene

Sleep is where recovery and restoration happen—and I’ve been needing more of both. My plan is to cut off screen time at least an hour before bed, get to sleep earlier, and aim for more consistent, quality rest. The hope? Waking up earlier and starting the day more grounded.

4. Starting My Day with Intention

Instead of reaching for my phone in the morning, I want to reach for peace. I’m setting a goal to start my day with prayer and devotion—even if it’s just five minutes. Creating calm before the chaos helps me carry that mindset into the rest of the day.

5. Managing Stress in New Ways

Stress and anxiety can sneak in quietly, especially when we’re juggling so much. I want to start experimenting with yoga, meditation, and quiet time to help me feel more centered. I may not get it perfect every day, but even five intentional minutes can make a difference.

I know I won’t implement everything all at once. I’m choosing a few areas to start with, then I’ll slowly layer in more as the month goes on. Because let’s be real: this isn’t about willpower—it’s about sustainability.

Throughout April, I’ll be sharing how it’s going—the wins, the lessons, the setbacks, and the surprises. And I’d love for you to join me!

If you’ve been feeling the need to reset or realign in any area of your life, take this as your invitation. Choose one or two habits to focus on, give yourself grace, and let’s grow together.

What’s one small change you’d like to make in April? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to support you!
